This summer, Docs on Wheels is making a highly anticipated stop in Veria, hoping to involve the locals in some creative audiovisual experimentation! The event, consisting of two screenings and a 2-day workshop, will take place at the city’s stunning Central Public Library from the 9th to the 14th of July. Teenagers from a variety of ethnic backgrounds will come together to exchange experiences on camera, transforming their stories with stop-motion animation in an exciting documentary hybrid workshop called “Portraits in Motion”.

This and so much more will be taking place at Veria TachLab, a space dedicated to innovation within the library, which won the Access to Learning Award from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in 2010 among 250 candidates. The award, which came with $1.000.000 attached, afforded the library the necessary tools and infrastructure to stand out in the global educational scene and, as far as we’re concerned, it’s already making waves!

Local audiences can also enjoy two great documentaries, “Salam Neighbour” by Zach Ingrasci and Chris Temple and “Song of Lahore” by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and Andy Schocken. The event is organised by Exile Room with the support of the U.S. Embassy in Athens and the American Film Showcase.
